About the event
Presentation Summary
Ceres – Demeter to the Greeks – has always owned a special place in the hearths and hearts of her mortal subjects. She exemplifies the precarious miracle of seasonal agriculture, and, as the ‘goddess who suffered’ while separated from her beloved daughter Persephone, she brings compassion to humans navigating the seasonality of their own lives. This lecture delves reflectively into the mythology of Demeter/Ceres and demystifies the Eleusinian Mysteries, one of the most important initiation rituals of the ancient Mediterranean world. Then, like NASA’s Dawn spacecraft, we’ll make a quick stop by dwarf planet Ceres on our way to exploring Ceres' astrological themes we can try out in our own charts.Â
